Being a Gentile, Cornelius had been prevented from participating in much of the Jewish worship at Jerusalem. He was a good and honest man; however, and sincerely wanted to learn about what was pleasing to God.
When Peter, the apostle, came to his house, it was a grand moment for Cornelius. He had gathered his family and friends together in anticipation. As soon as Peter appeared, anxiously Cornelius burst forth, "Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God" (Acts 10:33). He was ready! He wanted to know. He wanted to do what was right. Then Peter taught them all the commands of the Lord, Great joy came to Cornelius that day. He and his family began to practice what they learned. They obeyed God's commands (Acts t0:48). To them God had granted "repentance unto 1ife" (Acts 11:18).
I love the attitude of Cornelius, don't you? He sincerely wanted to obey God and be acceptable with Him. "Tell me all" was his plea. May God help us to have the "Cornelius" attitude today in regard to God's Word.
