  1. "Church" - Greek ekklesia from "ek" meaning "out of" and "klesis" meaning  "a calling;"  "an assembly" (Acts 19:39).  We are called by the gospel to an assembly of the body of Christ, His church (II Thessalonians 2:14; Ephesians 1:22-23).
  2. "Acapella" - Our word acapella means "as in the  church (chapel)" according to Webster's Dictionary.  From the monumental work, Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature, McClintock and Strong note: "The general introduction of instrumental music can certainly not be assigned to a date earlier than the 5th or 6th centuries. . .The first organ is believed to have been used in church service in the 13th century."
  3. "Baptism" - Our English word is a transliteration of the Greek word baptize. An accurate definition from the Greek language is "the process of immersion, submersion and emergence (from bapto "to dip") "(W. E. Vine's Greek Lexicon). In the Greek translation of the Old Testament it is the word for what Naaman did at Jordan---"dip."
  4. "Cemetery" - This English word comes to us from the Greek koiman.  It means "to put to sleep."  This is what Jesus Christ called death (John 11:11-13).  Paul and Peter both referred to death in this way (I Corinthians 15: 20; II Peter 3:4).
